Navigate North is an icy tour. For eight days the teams are on the road, but where exactly to? That remains a surprise for the participants. It is a real navigation adventure. The participants are given GPS coordinates and the goal is to navigate as accurately as possible to the next point. We spoke with owner Vincent Wedekind about the crucial role of MyFMS.
A strategic game
“We use MyFMS for creating the routes and determining positions. The data is sent to our backoffice software so that the ranking can be calculated.” According to Vincent. Each stage is a surprise, participants do not know in advance where they are driving to. It is a strategic game with a strong playful element. Per stage, participants can earn (bonus) points, for example for the shortest distance and the most ideal time.
In this video the Navigate North team explains how it uses MyFMS.
Valuable feedback
Frank Leemkuil is pleased with this long-term collaboration. “We get a unique opportunity to test our solutions under extreme weather conditions. There is always valuable feedback from the Navigate North team which we use to further improve the software and hardware for our customers.”
Safe on the road
In addition, MyFMS improves the safety of the tour. “Through the navigation module in the app, we can track all teams live. If a team falls too far behind the group, we can take action immediately. We also monitor speeds, it must remain safe for everyone,” Vincent adds.
The 12th edition started on Friday, January 24. The weather is ideal with an average temperature of -20 and a lot of snow. ‘We organize this tour with great pleasure. It is so enjoyable to surprise participants every year. In this tour, nothing is what it seems.’ In addition, each team drives for a good cause, with an average of €250,000 raised annually.
